We are excited to announce the release of new early years’ resources - 'Smalltalk – Big Yarns.'
In partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Parenting Research Centre, and Youthworx, we have created a series of cards and videos featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
These resources aim to demonstrate and role model ways that families can support their boorais to learn and grow up strong and deadly.
The resources are designed to support the delivery of smalltalk, an evidence-based program that has been rolled-out across Victoria in supported playgroups and in-home sessions. We have developed a culturally safe model of delivering smalltalk in our Koorie Families as First Educators program.

What is Koorie Families as First Educators?
Koorie Families as First Educators is a VACCA early years program currently being delivered in the Northern Metro and Inner Gippsland regions.
The program provides in-home support and group sessions for families or carers of Aboriginal children aged 0 to 5 years.
VACCA’s Koorie Educators work with families around ways they can support their boorais’ learning and development and increase their parenting confidence.
