Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making

Home > Our Services > Children and Families > Family Support > Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making

The program is for children and families involved with the Child Protection to support families to make safe decisions for children.

What we offer

Aboriginal decision making which is guided by the family and respectful of culture to:

  • Build on the strengths in family and kinship networks so that the needs of children can be met
  • Empower families to make good decisions and plans in relation to the safety and wellbeing of their children
  • Explore family placement options, if needed
  • Actively involve the child’s family, Elders and other significant people in the child’s life in decision-making.

In partnership with government agencies we work to ensure a culturally safe and respectful process for Aboriginal children and families dealing with Child Protection.

Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making is supported by the Victorian Government.
