Aboriginal Care Leavers Service System Review

About this research

This report explores how well the leaving care system supports Aboriginal young people leaving care as they transition out of care. Drawing on the experiences of staff from three Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and a review of relevant literature, it highlights the importance of connection to culture, family and community, alongside challenges such as systemic racism, limited services and workforce gaps. The findings identify opportunities to strengthen leaving care services and improve outcomes for Aboriginal young people.
