VACCA, Link-Up Victoria, Connecting Home and City of Darebin invite you to join us for an online event to commemorate the 14th Anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations.

Be a part of this important national day for all Australians by joining the event livestream here, or via the VACCA Facebook page from 10.30am on 13 February, 2022.

13 February, 2022 marks the 14th anniversary of the day the Australian Government said sorry in Parliament, acknowledging the pain and suffering caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by the forced removal of their children from family, community, culture and country.

The Apology was a significant step towards healing from our country’s past and each year on 13 February we stand together as a nation to remember, honour and pay respects to the Stolen Generations - to those who made it home, to those still searching and to those who never made it home and rest in the Dreaming.

The event will open with a Welcome to Country from Colin Hunter, followed by speakers Muriel Bamblett - CEO Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA); Ian Hamm -Chair, Connecting Home; Gabrielle Williams - Minister for Aboriginal Affairs; Lina Messina - Mayor, City of Darebin; and Eva Jo, Stolen Generations survivor. The event will also feature music from Archie Roach and Briggs.

For event enquiries contact Bev Murray - Program Manager, Link-Up Victoria on 0402 095 567 or bevm@vacca.org
