Dr Matthew Bach, Shadow Minister for Youth Affairs, recently sat down with VACCA CEO Aunty Muriel Bamblett. During this time, they discussed the importance of ACCOs in supporting Aboriginal children, who are overrepresented in the Out of Home Care system.

In Victoria, 1 in 10 Indigenous children are in out of home care. The worst in Australia. 1 in 9 babies are taken into care.

He echoes Aunty Muriel's calls for the radical re-orientation of our care system. Early care and prevention is the way forward.

Watch his adjournment to State Parliament below, in which he speaks on the over representation of Indigenous Children in the out of home care and child protection systems. He also promises to shift significant powers away from Government Bodies and into Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
