Art Mentoring

VACCA's Art Mentoring program is now in its 5th year and is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 15 years and over who have an interest, talent and passion in the visual arts.

The program works with artist mentors Maree Clarke and Peter Waples-Crowe, to support the young people to develop their visual arts practice and techniques, create works and learn about Victorian Aboriginal arts and culture and the art world more broadly. Links with a network of Aboriginal practitioners and arts professionals, including cultural institutions such as the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, provide further opportunities to gain knowledge and skills.

Art Mentoring runs for 6 to 8 months and culminates in an exhibition of the young people's work, providing an opportunity for the emerging artists to gain exposure, marketing skills and confidence.

VACCA partners with Victoria University, Moondani Baluk Unit who support the young artists to finish modules towards a Certificate in General Education.

Our latest Art Mentoring Program commenced in July 2019.

Please contact us for any referrals to the program.
