Our Local Justice program walks alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people involved in the justice system, offering support to help them move forward and reduce contact with the system in the future.
Who is it for?
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, aged 18 years and over.
How it works
- We support people involved in the justice system including those on correction or parole orders, dealing with fines or warrants, leaving custody and returning to the community, and young adults (ages 18 to 21).
- We can connect people with unpaid fines and warrants with the Sheriff’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer.
- If community work hours need to be completed, we offer the option to do them in a cultural setting.
- We can also provide support and guidance with regards to:
- understanding the justice system
- education and job opportunities
- referral pathways to other support services.
We have more programs and services to support community.
