Drawing on the experiences of VACCA, this article outlines the development of an Aboriginal cultural model of Aboriginal therapeutic residential care. It argues that for Aboriginal children and young people living in residential care, healing must be grounded in culture and shaped by an understanding of intergenerational trauma, relationships and community.
