This commentary highlights the importance of understanding Aboriginality and culture as sources of strength and for Aboriginal children and families. It emphasises the need for Aboriginal  people to be active agents in shaping their own futures, and describes child and family service provision as most effective when it is grounded in human rights, self-determination, Aboriginal governance and culture.
