3 November 2022

VACCA is proud to launch our 2022 Christmas Appeal, raising funds to provide presents for Aboriginal children in out-of-home care and across VACCA’s 70 program areas; as well as vouchers and extra support for carers and families in need.

Each Christmas VACCA provides over 3,500 presents for Aboriginal children across the State to open at their Christmas events or on Christmas Day through the generosity of our supporters and Communities.

This year, VACCA is calling on individuals, businesses and sector partners to once again help us raise funds to give these gifts and supports to Aboriginal families in need.

Muriel Bamblett CEO of VACCA said, “Christmas is such a special time and this year I’m asking all our supporters, colleagues, suppliers and the communities we work in - please dig deep! Our goal is to raise $100,000 to make sure no child misses out this year.”

For Aboriginal families, Christmas can sometimes be the one opportunity each year for all the family and cousins, Aunts and Uncles to connect and come together and celebrate culture. We also know that Christmas can be a difficult time for families in need. Especially our carers.

One of the mums VACCA supports, Lynette, loves her children (7-year-old Allira and 4-year-old Jirra), more than anything. But she struggles with a long-term illness and can’t give them the stability and support she knows they need.

Luckily, Lynette is very close to her cousin Emma. They grew up together and are like sisters. Lynette knew Emma would provide her kids with a loving Aboriginal home, family, community and culture. So she entrusted Emma with their care.

Unfortunately, it isn’t always easy for Kinship care families to support extra children as well as their own. This Christmas, VACCA will support families like Lynette and Emma’s.

“Will you help VACCA make this Christmas special for children in out of home care, the carers and families doing it tough?” Ms Bamblett asked.

Supporting VACCA’s Christmas Appeal, is easy:
