Home > Our Services > Family Violence > Yananganyin - Journey Walker

Our Yananganyin – Journey Walker program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community experiencing family violence by ‘walking alongside’ every person to ensure they have access to culturally grounded support services that allow them to create safety at home.

Who is it for?

  • Aboriginal people and non-Aboriginal family members living in the Bayside Peninsula region (Bayside, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip, and Stonnington).
  • Non-Aboriginal parents and carers of Aboriginal children living in the same area.
  • Experiencing or at risk of experiencing family violence.
  • We welcome all community members – including men, women, children and rainbow mob.

How it works

  • This program provides culturally safe support for community impacted by family violence. Each person receives tailored assistance - whether accessing crisis services, healing programs or practical help to improve safety and wellbeing.
  • The team works closely with individuals, walking alongside them to navigate support systems while respecting their autonomy.
  • Flexible funding is available to address immediate needs – from cultural activities and wellbeing resources, to home safety measures.
  • Support is offered in-person, by phone, or via text, ensuring accessibility for all community members.
