Reconciliation week is almost here and there will be lots of ways to participate.
The unveiling of the Stolen Generations marker at Atherton Gardens, Fitzroy will occur on National Sorry Day, Saturday, 26th May at 3pm.
Everyone is welcome to come along and commemorate the day and witness the unveiling of this very special marker on Wurundjeri land, in a place that is surrounded by the Aboriginal history of our community here in Melbourne.
The Stolen Generations Marker is a public artwork entitled Remember Me. The marker has been created by Kamilaroi/Gamilaroi artist Reko Rennie and was commissioned by the Yarra City Council with support from the Victorian Government.
Uncle Colin Hunter will officially launch the marker, with guest speakers being Muriel Bamblett, our CEO, and performances by Deborah Cheetham AO, Kutcha Edwards, Illana Atkinson, Djirri Djirri Dance Group, Jindi Worabak Dancers, Koori Youth Will Shake Spears Dance Group and Uncle Jack Charles.
