What kind of placements does VACCA offer students?

VACCA has hosted many students from various vocational and higher educational courses. All students applying must be studying with an accredited Education Provider with a practical or field education component to their course. All students require approval from their Education Provider before a student is accepted on placement.

If you are unsure about your study requirements or you have particular learning objectives that need further clarifications, please contact our team at orgdev@vacca.org.

Where are student placements held at VACCA?

VACCA currently hosts students at each VACCA office location and are subject to our programs and student supervisors’ availability at the time of the application.

We strive to offer as many students the opportunity to secure a placement however we do receive a high number of interest andapplicants. Each student application is reviewed by our team of staff and notified accordingly.

Our advice is to consider applying for a placement with us well in advance.

What happens after I apply for a VACCA student placement?

All student applications are reviewed by our student placement team, and your application will be accepted based on your learning objectives and the availabilities we have at the time. If we can match you to a placement opportunity, we will notify you via email and invite you for a student interview.

Please allow approx. 6 – 9 weeks for a response from our team.

Based on this information we advise students to apply well in advance of their proposed start dates.

On occasion, we may have a specific type of student request where we will advertise with a prescribed student placement positiondescription.

What do I need to know before I apply?

All students must address our key selection criteria and let us know if they have participated in any Cultural Awareness training. All these points assist us to understand the student’s placement aims and desire to undertake a placement within our Aboriginal community controlled organisation.

Students must complete our student application form and you will be required to attach a current CV to this application.

Any applications made by email will not be accepted, or included in our review process.

All student placements are subject to:

  • Working With Children Check (voluntary status)
  • Police check.
  • A student interview and two referee checks
