I just love them, I couldn’t do without them” - Joyce, a long term foster carer explaining why she enjoys caring for children.

Foster Care is when you open up your heart and your home to look after children and young people who cannot live with their parents and need a safe and caring home.  Foster care is usually temporary because our aim is to reunite, where we can, our children and young people back to their parents or extended family and community as quickly as possible.

You do not need any previous experience or qualifications to become a foster carer.  Foster Carers can be anyone.  We decided that the slogan “Carers Come from All Walks of life” is a great way to describe how the Carers that we have on our Carer List come from all different backgrounds, families and life experiences.  We have Aboriginal and non Aboriginal carers, married and single carers, young and mature carers, all sorts of carers who have one thing in common – they genuinely like and enjoy children even through there are challenging times that come with foster care.

If you can provide a safe and nurturing home for our children and young people who need care and you are willing to take a journey that makes a positive difference in a child’s or young persons life then have a read of the foster care information pack and contact us about becoming a foster carer by filling out the expression of interest, calling into our office at 139 Nicholson Street, East Brunswick, Victorian 3057, writing to us, sending us an email  vacca@vacca.org or giving us a ring on (03) 8388 1855 during business hours.
